Hello, and welcome to the UofA's Allfaculty listserv.
We know that you don't want to be bombarded with e-mail messages, so let us assure you that this listserv will be used infrequently.
The purpose of the listserv, which was created in 1999 in response to a survey of UA faculty members, is to enable your elected Faculty Officers (the Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary of the Faculty) to communicate quickly with all faculty when we feel that a particular item of information is URGENT, BRIEF, and of interest to a MAJORITY OF THE FACULTY.
This is NOT a forum for discussion, and indeed, it is not possible to respond directly to the list. When feedback on a given item is appropriate, the message itself will tell you where to direct that feedback.
Examples of the types of messages that are distributed via this listserv include (but are not limited to):
Messages on this listserv usually arise out of the UA's shared governance process. Suggestions for items to be posted are welcome, and should be sent to Pam Bridgmon at the Faculty Center (bridgmon@u.arizona.edu). Listserv policy requires that all three elected faculty officers agree that each message is appropriate for the Allfaculty list - i.e., that it meets the criteria of being urgent, brief, and of interest to a majority of the faculty.
Although we hope you won't avail yourself of this option, it is possible to remove yourself from this listserv by contacting Pam Bridgmon (bridgmon@u.arizona.edu or call 621-1342). Otherwise, you'll be hearing from us, but not very often.

Contributions sent to this list are automatically archived. You can get a list of the available archive files by sending an "INDEX ALLFACULTY" command to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.ARIZONA.EDU. You can then order these files with a "GET ALLFACULTY LOGxxxx" command, or using LISTSERV's database search facilities. Send an "INFO DATABASE" command for more information on the latter.
This list is available in digest form. If you wish to receive the digested version of the postings, just issue a SET ALLFACULTY DIGEST command.
IMPORTANT: This list is confidential. You should not publicly mention its existence, or forward copies of information you have obtained from it to third parties. Please note that the "GIVE" command is automatically disabled for all archive files.
