Emily Krauz Staff Endowment Scholarship Due
The Emily Krauz Staff
Endowment Scholarship is open to any benefits-eligible UA
classified staff member. The purpose of the fund is to
encourage and support UA career staff members towards their
career advancement and/or education. This scholarship can be
applied towards educational expenses such as registration
costs, books and supplies. Class registration may be at the
UA, including correspondence courses, or Pima Community
College. Awards are presented twice a year and average about
$150.00 to each recipient. The total amount awarded every
fall and spring is about $1,000.00. Due to the large number
of applicants, not all will receive an award. Recipients and
amounts awarded to each are chosen by an independent
selection committee from those who have applied during the
preceding months to June and November. Recipients are
notified via email and are also published at the
Winners
Page. Scholarship recipients are reimbursed for
their expenses AFTER they turn in original receipts, up to
the amount of the award. For example, if you are awarded
$150.00 and hand in receipts for tuition, books and supplies
for $90.00, you will be reimbursed for $90.00. SAC
gladly welcomes contributions to the Endowment fund. If you

organization committed to making The UofA a safer, more
receptive, and inclusive environment for members of the gay,
lesbian, bi-affectionate, transgender, and questioning
community. By becoming affiliated with SafeZONE, you are
indicating that you will be an identifiable source of
support and nurturance for gay, lesbian, bi-affectionate,
transgender, and questioning students, faculty, and staff on
The University of Arizona campus. Your participation in
SafeZONE sends a message to campus community members that
you are available to talk about their concerns, whether they
be those of acknowledged members of the gay, lesbian,
bi-affectionate, and transgender community, of people
questioning their sexuality, or concerns of fellow allies.
Any student, faculty, or staff member is welcome and all are
strongly encouraged to attend. It is the goal of the
committee to have as many trained SafeZONE members as
possible on campus. The training sessions provide
participants with information on the gay, lesbian,
bi-affectionate, transgender and questioning experience of
students, faculty and staff. The ALLY DEVELOPMENT session is
designed to provide participants with information that will
help them become allies for LGBTQ members of our community.
Facilitators assume that participants come with an
understanding of issues facing LGBTQ people and understand
concepts of heterosexism and homophobia as well as some
understanding about gender variance & expression.
Participants who complete this session WILL receive a
SafeZONE placard. The session requires participation among
all members. Participants need only bring an open mind. All
other materials, including an allys resource packet, will be
provided at the training. Locations will be provided to

Nov 2 - Dec 15 - POSTSECRET
Union Gallery, 3rd floor, NE corner of Student Union
OPENING RECEPTION: Monday, November 5,
5:00-7:00 pm
SPECIAL EVENT: Tuesday, November 6, 5:00-7:00 pm
Performance of More Secrets: The Thing You Swore You Would
Never, Ever Tell Anyone! by the Odyssey Storytellers.
PostSecret is a worldwide community art project started by
Frank Warren in November 2004. He invited strangers he
encountered throughout Washington DC to write down and
illustrate a secret anonymously on a blank post card and
mail it to him. The secret had to be true, and it had to be
something that had never been shared with another person.
Over three years and 100,000 secrets later, PostSecret has
become an international phenomenon. The Union Gallery
will present an exhibit of original PostSecret cards from
November 2 to December 15, 2007. We invite all members of
the UA and Tucson community to contribute their own cards.
Drop boxes will be available in the Student Union Memorial
Center, the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership,
Campus Health, and the School of Art. Be creative -- let the
card be your canvas! All cards collected at the UA will be
exhibited in the Union Gallery. For more information
about this exhibit and related programs, please visit
www.union.arizona.edu. All events are free and open to
the public. Parking available at Mountain and Second Avenue

Techniques for Successful Job Interviewing workshop
University Services Bldg, Room 214

improve on your interviewing skills. You will gain practice
on how to tailor your interviewing performance according to
the target and format of the interview: phone, in-person, or

respond to behavioral interview questions, develop a “reason
for leaving statement” and your own “infomercial”. For

Send your thanks to
our soldiers.
It only takes a minute and is so worthwhile.
If you go to the
web site
http://www.letssaythanks.com/ you can pick out a thank you card
and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is
currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it
will go to some member of the armed services. It is FREE and it
only takes a second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers
received a bunch of these? I sent mine, now you send one too! |

Curb Auto
Theft with the Watch Your Car Program:
It's Quick, Easy and FREE!
The Watch Your Car
decal program is a free, voluntary program that
vehicle owners enroll their vehicles with the
Arizona Automobile Theft Authority. The vehicle is
then entered into the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD)
database and participants receive decals for their
front and rear windows. By displaying the decals,
vehicle owners convey to law enforcement officials
that their vehicle is not usually in use between the
hours of 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM, when the majority of
auto thefts occur. In addition, by enrolling in the
Watch Your Car Program, vehicle owners also
authorize law enforcement officials to stop their
vehicle at any time during the day or night within
one mile of the border, if there is a suspicion that
the vehicle is being illegally operated.
If a police officer
witnesses the vehicle in operation between these
hours, they have the right to stop the vehicle and
verify it is being legally operated by the rightful
owner.

free lifetime membership!* Yes, this is true. ALL of our
current programs on the site when you join now are
completely free and you will not have to enter a credit
card. We encourage you to compare this offer to
other online programs like eDiets and Weight Watchers
Online, which can cost hundreds of dollars per year. We
think you’ll agree that SparkPeople is the best choice!
Support & Motivation, Personalized Plan, Daily Nutrition Guide, Customized Fitness Plan, Expert Assistance
and so much more! |
