Take a look around you. You recognize people who
are dedicated to the University, who are always ready to help,
and who make the University a great place to work. Now, take a
moment and nominate those people for an Award for Excellence so
that the rest of the University can appreciate them also.
We urge you to take advantage of this

Feb 2: 12- 2 pm -
Meet Senator Dennis Deconcini as He Autographs His New Book
SU UA Bookstore
Senator Dennis DeConcini will celebrate the
publication of his political memoir, Senator Dennis
DeConcini: From the Center of the Aisle, with a booksigning.
DeConcini represented the Grand Canyon State in the US
Senate from 1977 to 1995. He is perhaps best remembered for
sponsoring the critical amendment to the Panama Canal Treaty
of 1977 that would return control of the canal to Panama by
the year 2000, though many will also remember him as a
member of the Keating Five. During his tenure, he served on
the Senate Appropriations Committee, the Senate Judiciary
Committee, and the Select Intelligence Committee, and he
chaired the Helsinki Commission. In 2006, he was selected by
Governor Napolitano to serve as a member of the Arizona
Board of Regents. His book reaches beyond typical
reflections to provide readers with penetrating and
revealing insights into his 18 years in the Senate. A
contemporary of Arizona greats like Sandra Day O'Connor,
Barry Goldwater, and Rose Mofford, DeConcini is an Arizona
icon in his own right. His memoir, co-authored with Jack L.
August Jr., serves to chronicle his political experiences,
in his unprecedented rise from Pima County Attorney to
senator. A vigilant centrist who got results by building
coalitions on both sides of the aisle, his approach was not
bound by strict party alliances but was deeply rooted in the
independent political environment of Arizona. While giving
relevant insights into today's political climate, he regales
readers with stories of the Senate and the reasoning behind
the many decisions he has made over the years. For more

Feb 25-Mar 25 - Romeo & Juliet
Arizona Repertory Theater
Arizona Repertory Theatre is the
premier professional theatre training company in the
southwest. ART showcases the talents of professional
faculty, aspiring students and professional guest artists at
the University of Arizona School of Theatre Arts. The
power of Shakespeare's great tragic love story comes from
the incomparably vivid poetry giving us the full, rich
images of the story's stark contrasts: immature love and
long-standing hate, humor and sorrow, peace and strife, life
and death. The tale of forbidden passion between two
star-crossed lovers from feuding families is as timeless as
literature itself. Our production promises a bold design to
accentuate the timelessness of the story, characters, and,
of course, Shakespeare's unforgettable poetry. Mature themes
and violence.

Send your thanks to
our soldiers.
It only takes a minute and is so worthwhile.
If you go to the
web site
http://www.letssaythanks.com/ you can pick out a thank you card
and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is
currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it
will go to some member of the armed services. It is FREE and it
only takes a second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers
received a bunch of these? I sent mine, now you send one too! |

Curb Auto
Theft with the Watch Your Car Program:
It's Quick, Easy and FREE!
The Watch Your Car
decal program is a free, voluntary program that
vehicle owners enroll their vehicles with the
Arizona Automobile Theft Authority. The vehicle is
then entered into the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD)
database and participants receive decals for their
front and rear windows. By displaying the decals,
vehicle owners convey to law enforcement officials
that their vehicle is not usually in use between the
hours of 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM, when the majority of
auto thefts occur. In addition, by enrolling in the
Watch Your Car Program, vehicle owners also
authorize law enforcement officials to stop their
vehicle at any time during the day or night within
one mile of the border, if there is a suspicion that
the vehicle is being illegally operated.
If a police officer
witnesses the vehicle in operation between these
hours, they have the right to stop the vehicle and
verify it is being legally operated by the rightful
owner.
