Agenda
Opening Announcements
– Randy Livingston - Ana not available today, but have
copies of transformation plan proposals. Dr Hay unable to join us today but
willing to attend in December. May be best to accommodate her for some time
in December but we already have speaker from PTS to deal with concerns of
staff or rising parking fees.
Speaker on UA Cares.
Holly Altman began describing that UA community is finding it difficult with
transitions and uncertain market. Employees and others dont think they can
help others financially, however, now need in the community is greater with
even more at Food bank assistance requests and housing issues. If everyone
gives a little it helps a lot. UA care donations can be done online with
payroll deduction in whatever amount and over how many paychecks and also by
a one time check. She will be working on statistics from the various
institutions. She will get us info for announcements. UA Cares drive ends
just before thanksgiving. UA 4 food drive is collaborating and
expanding support to include all the child hunger and nutrition programs and
the food bank. Coming soon is a main gate square kick off event, as well as
the faculty staff drive in March after Cats day. A lot of places UA can get
involved. Cats in the Community day for Project YES: after school
tutoring and mentoring program. Built 25 years ago and needs
improvements...design students working on design, upgrade, repair,
landscaping, murals to divert tagging, designs and color schemes. Exciting
project and rewarding experience. Good experience for families. Working on
children's book drive and need volunteers. Could use donated materials and
funds along with volunteer manpower. Need new playground equipment and shade
structure, kitchen cabinets, oven, fridge and help with computers (team from
UITS in planning stage). Leadership folks needed who are experienced in
organizing appropriate volunteers. March 7th, 2009 is date of the
event.
Haltman@email.arizona.edu
or call 626-4671 to volunteer and signup to hit website after holiday break.
Children’s projects coming along and creating private tutoring areas. Large
classroom and kitchen remodel. Art and sport closet. Playground projects,
landscaping. Meals and water for the day of event. Drive for children’s
books, library book list being made but preteen books mainly - Shana working
with Sara Heitsu at library on book drive and possible Bookmans’ donations.
Fingerprinting required for ongoing daily volunteers so plans are in the
works to come up with funds for this. Bookshelves, beanbags, lap desk,
cubbys, carpentry. A lot of room for creativity...looking for sponsors and
have pamphlet for this if anyone needs them.
Brite ideas program
