2. Guests Marcia Chatalas and Terri Lucas from Human Resources
attended to discuss the upcoming Open Enrollment for Health Care
Benefits.
▪ Have until Sept 10th to enroll. New year begins October 1st.
▪ Lots of changes but the “structure” remains the same
▪ State is now self-insured and we have 4 networks to choose from
▪ Since we have many physician & facility options, we might not have
to change physicians. Updates are being made daily on participating
physicians.
▪ EPO is similar to HMO, POS plan has disappeared due to lack of
participation
▪ Website provides excellent tools to find doctors, hospitals, etc.
Must have
physician ID# for the plan you choose as they differ per plan
▪ Discussed Transition of Care and best way to ensure a smooth
transition.
▪ RX list has not yet been completed
▪ Appeal Process – Does not fall under ARISA but your plan
administrator
▪ Dental and Vision plans remain the same, but you must select them
▪ State officials wanted to provide the best plan possible - these
plans are better than current Cigna coverage
▪ HR has worked w/ Dept reps to assist with enrollment and its not
too late to have a Dept rep request HR training. Also there are
several Fairs to help with the enrollment process. August 11th,
August 30th and Sept 1st. Check website for additional info.
▪ If you make selections now and wish to change them, you may up to
Sept 10th.
▪ Quality of service was an important issue in choosing these plans,
not cost.
General discussion followed. Encouraged us to visit the HR website
and to make use of email for answers to specific questions. The
Legislature passed the self-insurance plan at the last minute so
there are still a few glitches to work out but its gone well and
issues are being resolved quickly. The ladies were very generous
with their time and stayed until after 4:00.
3. Ice Breaker – the Activities Committee hosted this month. A
handful of M&Ms in paper coffee filters were passed around to
everyone. Based on color/category we each addressed the group as a
“get to know you better” activity. Brown – hobbies, Orange – work,
Red – pet peeve, Green – dream vacation, Yellow – family.
ER Committee will host next month’s Ice Breaker.
4. Barb – Since it was 4:45 we decided to wait until Sept. meeting
to discuss goals for upcoming year. We can have a dialog on email.
Lisa will type up & distribute the notes from our Retreat.
