Process Agenda Items
Barb called the meeting to order at
3:05pm. Due to a visit from HR on the new “UA Career Track”
on-line application system a quick update was held on several
issues including the following upcoming events:
Ø AG center visit sponsored by
Activities committee on March 15th to the Campbell AG center as a
goodwill and recruiting visit. This will be the first
“off-campus” site visit to educate on SAC functions. There are
several other visits planned at this time including a trip to
Phoenix (TBD), UA South (TBD), Grounds & Labor (TBD), and USA Bldg
(April 1st). If interested in attending any of these please
contact Tonya.
Ø Popcorn social March 17th UA
mall stage area. Free popcorn, cotton candy, mugs, and contests
galore. Help still needed for this event. Over 500 flyers
distributed on campus and messages sent to all college council
listserv’s so we are hoping for a good turnout.
Ø KUAT fundraising night Sat
March 13th from 6:30pm-11pm see Barbara Foster if interested in
helping out. Free food and fun!
Ø ER visits still going strong
for the Awards for Excellence ceremony great fun and great
responses! While the number of nominations for individual awards
were down the team award responses were up. Taxes were able to be
paid on this year’s recipients gifts so they actually get to take
home $1000 post-tax!
Ø ABOR meeting March 11th-12th
coincides with the Tri-U meeting. Call to audience to be made by
staff member on issues pertaining to all three universities
agendas.
Ø New “misuse of university
assets” policy making its’ rounds through Faculty Senate, APOC,
and SAC HR committee to review and forward as appropriate. There
has been a major rewrite since last reviewed.
Ø “Acceptable use of computers”
policy approved March 1st and now posted on HR website.
David Shropshire, HR Analyst, attended
the meeting to announce that HR is hosting a “Focus on Your
Future” information fair on April 13th in the Student Union more
information forthcoming soon via 3D memos and on the HR website
but the fair will provide retirement planning, financial planning,
workshops of estate planning and legal issues, investment
workshops, credit counseling, and general how to manage your money
sessions.
Presentation by Glory Novak, HR
Finance & Administration Director, on the new “Career Tracks”
on-line application system from HR. The UA has finally moved into
the 21st century by having an on-line application system for all
jobs posted through UA including statewide positions. Upsides of
the system include expanded search functionality (narrow down
locations, type of jobs, dates opened, etc), system sets up a
personal account for each applicant and then stores their
application information, system will update applicants as to the
status of their applications submitted, etc. While there are
still bugs in the system contact HR with any problems or
suggestions you might have. Many departments are still going
through training so not all parts of the system are being used
yet. The system is seen as much more cost-effective and timely by
both departments conducting searches and HR. International
applicants are quite excited about the new system and see it as
money saving, more secure, and timely compared to the old “paper
system.” Contact Glory Novak at 621-5148 or novakg@u.arizona.edu
with any comments or suggestions on the new system.
Per Cathy Nicholson there is some new
information forthcoming from HR on the merit and performance
appraisal process. After much concern from staff members, these
processes are currently under review. The fingerprinting and
background bills currently in the legislative review process look
like they will die since ABOR is addressing these issues on their
own and it would be a duplication of efforts.
There were no committee reports given at
this time due to time constraints.
