OPENING
The Meeting convened at
3:05 p.m.
Lisa Wakefield welcomed everyone.
Executive Board members introduced themselves followed
by introductions of returning and newly appointed SAC members and guests.
PROCESS AGENDA
Treasurer’s Report: Departing
Treasurer, Sara Thompson, gave her final report. Costs were in for the Town
Hall and New Employee Welcome meetings.
Reminder to committees to get budget information sheets taken care
of. Sara gave her farewell to the group, told of her positive experiences
with SAC, and encouraged new members to get involved.
Executive Board Report:
Lisa reported that new Executive Board Members were welcomed and
duties were assigned. There was a brief discussion of title and job
description changes and it was decided to discuss the issue at the SAC
retreat.
Human Resources Department Report: Cathy Nicholson, HR
liaison, was not available.
SAC Retreat:
Karen Stanley
reported that the retreat would be held on
August 2, 2002
at the Westin La Paloma from
9:00 a.m.
to
5:00 p.m.
A continental breakfast will be
served at
8:30 a.m.
The program will end with a
leadership seminar with Dr. Nancy Huber. Please RSVP to Barb Lancaster.
MISSION
AGENDA
In August there will be two legislative candidate
forums. On
August 27, 2002
districts 27 and 28 will be represented in Crowder Hall from
11:30-1:30
. Districts 26 and 29 will be represented on
August 28, 2002
in the “Swede” Johnson building, room 205 from
11:30-1:30
. A voter registration table will be available.
STANDING COMMITTEES
Lisa described the various Council Committees with help from the present
chairs. A sign up sheet was sent around for each committee and members were
encouraged to join at least two groups.
Tri
University
Classified Staff Executive Board: The Tri-Board will meet on
August 9, 2002
at NAU. The Tri-Board set up an “All State Universities Day “scheduled
for
8/24/02
. It is a Diamondback/Chicago Cubs game. The package will include a t-shirt
with admittance.
Activities Committee: Handles events put on by SAC such as the Halloween
party and Popcorn Social.
Communications: This Committee oversees/coordinates/prepares/maintains the
web page, video camera, listserves, newsletter, articles, poster, phone line
and program shells.
Emily Krauz: Committee reviews and awards scholarship
endowments.
Employee Recognition:
This committee is the most time consuming and yet the most rewarding.
Events include: “Employee Awards for Excellence”, “On Our Own Time”
art exhibit, and “Music on the Mall.
Human Resources: Works with HR on policy changes and
applicable staff issues.
Legislative: Committee provides education on
legislative happenings.
Membership/Liaisons: Duties include annual retreat,
bi-annual employee welcome, and membership drives.
UNIVERSITY COMMITTEES
Lisa Wakefield briefly described each committee.
Since this was an informational meeting the committee chairs did not
report out.
Lisa made a call for questions or comments. There was a discussion on the
mission of SAC.
