The Faculty of Oriental Studies offers numerous courses on both the modern and ancient

Special Features
The Centre for Middle Eastern Studies has a substantial modern library on the history,
geography, economics, oil problems, and sociology of the Middle East, including all the
significant periodicals published in and about the Middle East. There are close links with
the Research and Documentation Centre in Abu Dhabi as well as with Research Centres in
Kuwait, Muscat, and Sana'a. Students, scholars and visitors from the Arab World are
welcomed at the Centre. The Journal Arabian
Studies, the only interdisciplinary journal dealing with the peninsula as a whole, is
published by the Middle East Centre. Additional lectures and seminars, often by
visiting speakers, are organized by the Centre for Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies and
the Centre for Hebrew Studies.
