2008 Affirmative Action Placement Goals
The University of Arizona is a Federal government contractor and, as such, has certain obligations to take affirmative action to employ and advance in employment covered veterans, individuals with disabilities, women, and minorities. Where required by law and in accordance with the U.S. Labor Department Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs recommendations for compliance with Executive Order 11246, the University of Arizona has established placement goals for jobs where women or minorities are not currently participating in the numbers expected by their availability. As part of the University of Arizona’s 2008 Affirmative Action Plan for Women and Minorities, the Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Office has established placement goals for the following job groups. In the 2008 Affirmative Action Plan Year, the University will make a good faith effort to fill vacancies in the following job groups at the rate indicated. As a matter of law and as a matter of University policy, selection for opportunities for hire, promotion, transfer, or training, as well as decisions regarding demotion, termination, layoff, or other terms and conditions of employment shall occur without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or other prohibited basis. A copy of the reaffirmation memorandum is available in pdf format: here. The job titles that make up these job groups are also available. To check if a specific position contains goals, select search classified staff titles for goals or search appointed titles for goals. These pages will allow you to search by job title (or by department number for appointed titles) to determine if there are goals for women or minorities. They also indicate in which job group the title belongs to. For example, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, AGRICULTURE (NOT ON TRACK) means that all Assistant Professors in the College of Agriculture who are not on track belong in job group 2103. If you have any questions regarding these goals, please contact Hanny El-hizawi at .
